The Brisbane Cricket Ground
In 1985 this portion of the Woolloongabba Reserve was made available to the Queensland Cricket Association who set about draining and leveling the site, and the first cricket match was played here in December 1896. Sheffield Shield and test matches have been played at the Gabba since 1931. It is the State’s main cricket venue and also home to the Queensland Cricketers Club and the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club. AFL football has been played here since 19931.
